History: "The year 1936 saw the far-reaching dream of a World Rowing Championship become a reality for Washington Coach Al Ulbrickson. His band of oarsmen swept the nation and world to deliver fame and achievement never before realized by the purple and gold rowing eights. With a lineup wracked with colds and sickness, Ulbrickson held little hope for Husky chances in the classic of all athletic parades, the Olympic Games. To win their preliminary effort the Washingtonians were forced to break a world's record to beat out a fast-traveling British unit. In the finals the big oarsweeps pulled together every bit of courage and fortitude they could muster to come across the line victors by a scant hair over Italy's sensational eight. Germany trailed in third position and England in fourth. The year 1936 has gone down in the annals of world rowing as the greatest and most historic season ever covered by Husky crews" - Edited from the 1937 University of Washington "Tyee" Yearbook.
Ebbets has designed this new commemorative 1936 Classic Cap in honor of the Husky heroes of the 1936 Olympics.
