Frequently Asked Questions

Flannel questions

What kind of fabric do you use?
We use authentic wool-blend baseball flannel which is the same as the fabric worn at the end of the flannel era in the late 1960s.
Aren't the jerseys itchy?
Not really. They are quite comfortable, and unlike contemporary baseball jerseys, they breathe. You do need to wear a t-shirt or other shirt underneath your flannel.
When will my order to ship?
With the wide assortment of items we offer, there is no way to keep them all in stock. While we do our best to make our best-selling items available much of what we offer requires some degree of construction before it's ready to ship. Please review product pages for estimated shipping times.

Cap Questions

Check our size chart to make sure you get the right fit.

I like new era caps. Are your caps like theirs?
No. A modern cap with a stiff, high crown is just not a "vintage" cap, no matter what emblem is put on it. Our caps faithfully replicate historic professional baseball caps from 1900 to 1970.
I just got my cap and it doesn't fit!
Don't worry. You can send it back for an exchange.
Why is my cap visor "floppy"?
Caps that seem to have a softer visor are made that way on purpose! Pre 1940 ballcap visors were made with softer visors so players could fold them up and put them in their back pockets. We have found that most of our customers fall in love with this style.
What size do your adjustable caps fit?
Adjustable caps fit up to a size 7 5/8.
I see "standard" and "short" visors, what's the difference?
Our standard visors are the most common size and measure 3", while the short visors are only 2".

Product Care Questions

Most of the items we offer include washing and care instructions on a tag inside, and the best results will come from following those instructions. Not all items are so straight-forward, though.

How should I clean my wool cap?
Due to the mix of materials used in making our famous wool ballcaps special care needs to be taken when cleaning them. Use a wool brush or lint roller to remove dust or dirt to keep your hat looking sharp, and spot clean with a gentle soap or detergent and cold water when necessary. If your hat needs more than spot cleaning we advise using material-specific cleaners. Avoid fully soaking your wool ballcap, as this may result in significant shrinkage.
What if I need to clean my Authentic Jacket?
Our Authentic Jackets are made using a variety of materials that all present different challenges when it comes to care and cleaning. Whether your jacket is all wool, has leather or suede sleeves, or is made of satin, they all also feature a quilted lining and knit cuffs and collar. As a result we recommend spot cleaning with a gentle soap or detergent or a material-specific cleaner when necessary. If further care is needed our best advice is to consult with a cleaner in your area, ideally one who specializes in leather or wool care when relevant.
