History: Named for the Purity Oil Company, the Purity 99 represented Calgary, Alberta, in Canada's Big Four League. The most famous player in the club's history was an outfielder named Glen "Gorgeous" Gorbous, a local kid who went on to play for the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies, and who later at an exhibition with the Omaha Cardinals threw a baseball 445 feet and 10 inches, a Guinness World Record that still stands to this day.
