History: The Packers started out in Kentucky in 1913 as the Covington Blue Sox. When the Feds went “major” in 1914 the Packers made news by signing St. Louis Browns manager George Stovall, the first signing of a major leaguer in violation of MLB’s reserve clause. Kansas City led the pennant race in 1915 until August, eventually finishing five and a half games behind the league champion Chicago Whales. Home games were played at Gordon & Koppel Field.
