History: Kansas City's first major league baseball team had an inauspicious start in 1914, when a September flash flood destroyed their ballpark - Gorden & Koppel Field - and the Packers had to play all of their remaining games on the road. The league then attempted to move the club to Newark, NJ for 1915, but was prevented from doing so by injunctions issued in favor of the team's management.
