History: The Cerveceria Caracas ballclub was founded in 1942, and fielded only players of Venezuelan nationality until changing that policy in 1950. Today known as the Caracas Leones, the club has won numerous Venezuelan League titles and two Caribbean Series titles. Pete Rose played for the team in the winter of 1964-1965 and among the club’s retired numbers are Venezuelan greats Luis Aparicio, Omar Vizquel, Tony Armas, Chico Carrasquel, and Andres Gallaraga.
