History: A ballclub named the Tourists has represented Asheville, North Carolina, almost continuously from 1897 until today. The 1968 Tourists were a class-AA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, and took home the ‘68 Southern League pennant behind manager Sparky Anderson, who would go on to become famous as the manager for the Reds and later for the Detroit Tigers.
