Brooklyn Dodgers 1947-50 Authentic Jacket
Made to order. Estimated 10 week production time.
History: We were first asked to make this jacket by the costume designer of the film “42” for the actor who played Dodger manager Burt Shotten. Shotten was persuaded to return to lead the Dodgers after the suspension of Leo Durocher. Of course, 1947 was also the rookie season of one Jackie Roosevelt Robinson.
We’ve added Jackie’s number 42 to the sleeve of the jacket, even though the Dodgers didn’t add sleeve numbers until a few years later. The Dodger script is an earlier variation of the more familiar which wasn’t standardized until the early 1950s. This jacket is made of cotton-backed viscose satin with a quilted lining and twill lettering.
A portion of the sales from this jacket goes to the estate of Jackie Robinson.
