History: The Manhattan College Jaspers were named after Brother Jasper who served at the school in the late 19th century as Head of resident students. Brother Jasper was the school's first baseball coach and is responsible for bringing the now famous and time-honored tradition known as the "Seventh inning stretch" to the game of baseball. Famous Jasper sports alumni include quarterback Vincent dePaul Draddy who developed the Izod and Lacoste brands, MLB pitcher Tom Waddell, and Track & Field Olympic Gold medal winners Lindy Remigino and Lou Jones.
