History: Hiroshima established a professional baseball team as part of the city's reconstruction efforts after the atomic bomb devastation in 1945. The Carp ("Koi" in Japanese) were perennially underfunded, and were so poor that in 1953 they could only afford to issue one uniform per player. The Carp played in Hiroshima Municipal Stadium until 2008.

Nice hat. Fits a little tight for a 7 1/8. Well constructed. Only complaint is that shiny fabrics used (under bill and in the dome) pick up and retain oil, unlike traditional fabrics.
Above and beyond
Everything about the purchase was stellar. Order placement is easy, shipping was surprisingly fast, and the hat itself is stunning. Detail and care in production are obviously top of mind for everyone at Ebbets, the hat is above and beyond my expectations.
After years of collecting and wearing baseball hats (100-150 or so) I just have to say how disappointed I am in myself for waiting this long to finally purchase Ebbets caps. (1958 Carp and 1944 Portland Beavers) I consider myself overly picky but here, absolutely amazing construction, feel, fit, color, comfort, packaging, care... Everything. I'm leaving the other hat company's behind for now. Moving into this new obsession. Making a B-line to the store next time I'm in Seattle. TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!!!!
The Perfect Hat!
The 1958 Hiroshima Carp hat is as perfect a baseball hat as I have ever owned. As always the details of the hat are outstanding. The navy wool soft with enough structure to stand on its own while displayed. The felt “H” is vibrant and in perfect proportion to the rest of the hat. The bill is the right thickness and comfortable when worn flat, The crown has dimples on each side of the logo. Consistent to the era and a cool feature that separates iit from modern baseball caps. This is the rare cap that sharp enough looking to be worn with just about anything.
