Southern University
No other school has won as many SWAC Baseball Championships as the Jaguars (26). The 1969 squad won one of those titles and were led by Coach Emory Hines and fireballer Jake Brown. Brown went on to play one season in 1975 as a member fo the San Francisco Giants and is one of thirteen Southern alumni to play in the major leagues. Before Coach Hines came to Southern, he was the last football coach at Grambling in 1940 before being succeeded by the legendary Eddie Robinson in 1941. Robinson served for over fifty years winning 408 games. Southern University is a historically black university (HBCU) located in Baton Rouge, Lousisana. They currently play their home games at Lee-Hines field and are members of the Western Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. We are Southern!
