Dallas-Ft. Worth Rangers

After having separate minor league teams for decades, Dallas and Ft. Worth were merged into one club in 1960, but still played home games at Burnett Field in Dallas. In 1962, their affiliation was shared by the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies. When it appeared that the Rangers were folding in 1960, the new NFL expansion team initially intended to call itself the "Rangers", but chose "Cowboys" instead when the Rangers kept going.
