The Japanese Baseball Collection

Japanese baseball has been part of Ebbets since the beginning, and our collection honors the iconic teams of the Land of the Rising Sun. An American professor introduced baseball to Japan in 1872. It caught on immediately and grew quickly, sparked by a 1934 tour of major league stars, including Babe Ruth. Two years later, seven teams formed Japan’s first professional league. By 1950, the sport had grown so much that a new league with two divisions was formed: Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Outside of Major League Baseball, it’s recognized as the world's best league today.
