INDIGO-DYED DOBBY BALLCAP HONORING THE HIROSHIMA CARP

History: The Hiroshima Carp were founded in 1949 as part of the city’s postwar reconstruction, and their early survival was anything but assured. In 1951, financial problems brought the club close to disbanding until Hiroshima supporters organized donations to keep the team alive. That bond between team and city became part of the Carp’s identity. Decades later, the franchise enjoyed its greatest sustained success, winning three consecutive Central League pennants from 2016 through 2018. The Carp name itself refers to koi, a traditional symbol of Hiroshima.
