History: Portland’s long-running PCL team began play with the rest of the PCL in 1903. Initially named the Browns, then the Giants, and briefly the Ducks, the team has mostly been known as the Beavers, with Lucky Beavers as an alternate name in the mid-1940s. Portland was the last team from the classic era of the league to still exist as recently as 2010, although it was a different franchise by that time. They won seven PCL titles in the period between 1906 and 1957.
