In 1969, the Minnesota Golden Gophers capped off their third straight 30+ win season and second Big Ten Championship in a row. Two short years later, all around athlete and future Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield burst on the scene. In 1973, Winfield won the College World Series Most Outstanding Player Award despite the team losing to the USC Trojans. He struck out 14 Oklahoma Sooners in the opening game of the CWS and finished with an incredibe .467 performance at the plate. The University of Minnesota is located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolois and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Golden Gophers currently play in the BIG 10 Conference and play their home games at Siebert field, named after legendary Coach Dick Siebert who led the Golden Gophers to 3 College World Series Championships.
