Baseball was not the only game played at Ebbets Field. The Dodgers (unrelated to the baseball team of the same name) were a founding member of the All-America Football Conference in 1946. With their rival New York Yankees and the established Giants (playing at the Polo Grounds) New York football fans had three professional teams to choose from, all named after their respective baseball forerunners.
