AUTHENTIC WOOL BALLCAP HONORING THE 1928 TAIYO CUBS

History: The Taiyo Cubs emerged from the vibrant Japanese American baseball culture of the Pacific Northwest in 1928. The club grew from Portland’s Taiyo Athletic Club, whose teams brought together younger players from several local sandlot clubs. That same year, the Dearborn Huskies joined the organization under the Taiyo Cubs name. At its peak in the 1930s, the broader Taiyo organization had around 120 members and fielded teams in baseball, football and basketball. These clubs helped create a sporting community for Japanese Americans at a time when segregation sharply limited access to established leagues.

Made from genuine wool broadcloth and finished with our signature green satin underbrim, this hat is inspired by the on-field ballcap of the 1928 Taiyo Cubs.
