Los Angeles Aztecs Wool Ballcap
SIGNATURE WOOL BALLCAP HONORING THE LOS ANGELES AZTECS
History: In contrast to the corporate money behind the New York Cosmos, the LA Aztecs were, according to their own coach, "a small, patched-together ownership of doctors and lawyers." After clinching the North American Soccer League championship in their debut 1974 season, they tried everything they could to keep the lights on. They brought in Elton John as a co-owner in 1976, but the busy pop star hardly set foot in the arena. George Best, of Manchester United fame, joined the same year, scoring 15 goals when he wasn't skipping practice to tend bar at his Hermosa Beach restaurant. Excitement waned until, in 1979, they signed three-time Ballon d'Or winner Johan Cruyff, and average attendance jumped from 7,500 to over 14,000 a game.
Made with authentic wool broadcloth, our signature green satin underbrim, and an embroidered felt logo, this ballcap honors the scrappy and eccentric Los Angeles Aztecs.Â
