League: Pacific Coast League

History: Although finishing fourth in the PCL’s South Division, the Islanders had a strong pitching staff, with Rob Patterson and David Johnson leading the league in strikeouts and ERA, respectively. Continuing financial problems, some having to do with the cost of travel to the mainland, and poor attendance at Aloha Stadium, resulted in 1987 being the last season in AAA ball for Hawaii. After 25 years the club was moved to Colorado Springs for the 1988 season.
