INDIGO-DYED DOBBY BALLCAP HONORING THE FUJI ATHLETIC CLUB

History: The Fuji Athletic Club traces its roots to San Francisco in 1903, when artist Chiura Obata helped establish what is widely recognized as the first Japanese American baseball team on the U.S. mainland. The Fuji name later lived on in Portland, where coach Frank Fukuda became a major force in Northwest Japanese American baseball. After moving there in 1927, Fukuda led Fuji teams to league and tournament championships while helping connect Japanese American clubs throughout the region. Baseball became more than a pastime: it was a way for immigrant communities to build identity, friendships, and belonging.

Made from indigo-dyed Japanese cotton in a textured dobby weave and finished with our signature green satin underbrim and a felt patch, this ballcap honors the Fuji Athletic Club.
