League: Texas-Louisiana League
History: The Black Sports were named after the city’s white minor league team, the Shreveport Sports, in what was common practice at that time. The team played in the Texas-Louisiana League, a minor Black circuit. The team included the ambidextrous Jimmy Bonner, who was later recruited to play for the Dai Tokyo team, forerunner of the Tokyo Giants, and thus was the first Black player in Japanese baseball.
