THE AUTHENTIC ON-FIELD BALLCAP OF THE 1960 PITTSBURGH PIRATES

History: Between 1953 and 1963, during what came to be known as the “Decade of Change” in baseball, six teams moved to new cities and four brand new ballclubs joined the majors.

The 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates clinched their first pennant in 33 years and went on to defeat a powerhouse Yankees squad in an epic World Series upset. In New York’s three victories they ran up the score, defeating Pittsburgh by over 10 runs in each game. But the Pirates took home hard-fought wins in game 1, 4, and 5 — and in the bottom of the ninth during a thrilling game 7, after trading the lead back and forth all night, Bill Mazeroski hit a walk-off solo shot to win it for the Pirates.

Ebbets teamed up with Mitchell & Ness to create the Decade of Change Collection, honoring the era with period-accurate ballcaps like this one — handmade in the U.S.A. from genuine wool broadcloth and featuring the flat embroidery style typical of the time.
