Hilldale Athletic Club 1924 V-Neck Mesh Jersey
V-NECK MESH JERSEY HONORING THE 1924 HILLDALE TEAM
History: In 1924, the best team in the Eastern Colored League was a Darby, Pennsylvania club called Hilldale — which had grown from a sandlot boys team into a genuine powerhouse under owner Ed Bolden. That fall, they faced the Kansas City Monarchs in the first-ever Colored World Series, playing nine games across a grueling back-and-forth series. Hilldale lost five games to four, and spent the whole next season itching for a rematch. They got what they wished for. Hilldale came back the very next year and beat the Monarchs to clinch the 1925 championship — just like you’d write it in a Hollywood script.
Made from lightweight, breathable knit mesh with a tackle twill appliqué of Hilldale's 1924 script, this jersey honors a powerhouse of the Negro Leagues built from a sandlot squad.
