GROUNDS CREW JACKET FROM GUINNESS X EBBETS FIELD

History: In 1935, Guinness broke from traditional beer advertising and handed illustrator John Gilroy a simple brief: make it unforgettable. Inspired by a trip to the circus, Gilroy first drew a seal balancing a pint glass on its nose with a zookeeper running after it shouting, "My Goodness, My Guinness!" After that came a whole menagerie of animals — including an ostrich, a tortoise, and (most iconic of all) a toucan — all laden with beer, rendered in Gilroy's colorful, whimsical style. The designs caught on big time, meaning this eclectic group of animals can claim at least some responsibility for the fame of the world's most popular stout.
