History: Havana’s Almendares Alacranes entered the 1948–49 season carrying more than a century of baseball tradition. Wearing their famous blue and white, the club battled through the Cuban Winter League before finishing 47–25 and claiming the championship under manager Fermín Guerra. The Alacranes were part of a golden era when Cuban ballparks welcomed elite talent from the Caribbean, Negro Leagues, and American professional baseball, making every winter game a showcase of international baseball at its highest level.
