History: The Michigan State Spartans baseball team won their first Big Ten Championship and appeared in their only College World Series in 1954. A key to their success was infielder Earl Morrall. While Morrall was a steady .270 career hitter for the Spartans, it was his prowess on the Gridiron for which he is known best. After leading the Spartans to a Rose Bowl victory and a #2 ranking in 1956, he was drafted in the first round by the 49ers and went on to a highly successful 21 year NFL career. The Michigan State Spartans are members of the Big Ten Conference and play their home games in Drayton McLane Baseball Stadium at John H. Kobs Field, East Lansing, Michigan.
