League: Collegiate Baseball
History: The 1955 Rutgers nine were led by Coach George Case. Case was a 4x Major League All-Star who won 5 consecutive stolen base titles (1939-1943) and even participated in one of Indians owner Bill Veecks famous promotions, matching Case against Olympian Jesse Owens in a 100-yard race which Owens won in 1946. Case led Rutgers to their one and only College World Series in his first season, 1950. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights Baseball team are currently members of the Big Ten Conference and play their home games at Bainton Field, Piscataway, New Jersey.
