League: Collegiate Baseball

History: The Boston College Eagles Baseball team of 1966 were considered a dark-horse when league play began, but by the final game they'd been molded into a NCAA tournament team that almost made a trip to Omaha for the College World Series.  The Eagles were led by All-League players Bill O'Brien and Ed Foley.  They did set a record for broken bats with eleven in three innings in a victory over Providence!  The Boston College Eagles are currently members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and play their home games at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Adjustable size comes with a leather strap and antiqued brass closure.

Terrific cap

I go way back with EFF to the early days when Devon Cap Co of Boston (& later the Roman Art Embroidery Co) made caps for Jerry Cohen on genuine old McAuliffe "KM Pro" machines that went back to the 30s. Those Devon EFF caps were the best, but the most recent manufacturer is coming close! These are very good caps. I also spent most of my childhood at BC in the athletic department. So I know BC equipment from a historical perspective. You nailed the embroidery on this cap; it is exactly what BC wore from roughly 1960-1971. However the color is off; it is at least one shade too "red." In 1966 BC still wore a dark, almost brown maroon. In 1969, new football coach Joe Yukica lightened the maroon on the football jerseys to a more burgundy (which they have stayed ever since, sadly), but baseball & hockey didn't follow suit until the university wide rebranding in the 90s, when burgundy essentially became the school color. I used to call it "Reebok red." I've been hearing rumors about EFF college hockey jerseys. BC has had a few great ones. Send me an email if you want some advice!

Great hat, get tons of compliments on it. There’s also an occasional “BC sucks” thrown at me when wearing it, but that’s just Boston for you.
