League: Texas League

History: Founded in 1977, the Tulsa Drillers played in the Texas League until 2020. The Drillers began when the Lafayette Drillers were moved after only two years from Lafayette, Louisiana to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The new team kept the Drillers name when they moved as it was so appropriate given the importance of oil to Tulsa. The Drillers were a Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers from that first season in ’77 until 2002. They then spent the period from 2003 to 2014 as an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies before switching to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015.
