League: American Association

History: It took three different managers, but the original Brewers won the regular season American Association title in '52 with a 101-53 record, twelve games ahead of second-place Kansas City. Milwaukee Pitcher Don Liddle led the league in strikeouts, ERA, and winning percentage. The Brewers would be gone the following season, making way for the Boston Braves' move to Milwaukee, but Liddle would stay put and pitch for the Braves in '53. Liddle's biggest claim to fame, however, would be as a member of the New York Giants in the 1954 World Series, when he threw the pitch to Vic Wertz that resulted in "The Catch" by Willie Mays.
