Chicago White Sox 1959 MLB Authentic Wool Ballcap
THE AUTHENTIC ON-FIELD BALLCAP OF THE 1959 CHICAGO WHITE SOX
History: Between 1953 and 1963, during what came to be known as the “Decade of Change” in baseball, six teams moved to new cities and four brand new ballclubs joined the majors.
During this period, the Chicago White Sox finally broke a four-decade playoff drought and won the American League championship in 1959. Even though they lost the World Series to the Dodgers in what was only their second season in Los Angeles, ‘59 is still a historic year for the south siders and the last time they took home a pennant until their epic 2005 run.
Ebbets teamed up with Mitchell & Ness to create the Decade of Change Collection, honoring the era with period-accurate ballcaps like this one — handmade in the U.S.A. from genuine wool broadcloth and featuring the flat embroidery style typical of the time. The White Sox only sported the white logo with red outline between ‘51 and ‘63, making this look an iconic part of mid-century baseball.
