League: Pacific Coast League

History: The life of a Minor League Baseball team can be a transient one, something that rings true in the tale of the Pacific Coast League’s Calgary Cannons. Taking the place of the Calgary Expos of the Pioneer League, the team formerly known as the Salt Lake City Gulls were relocated to Calgary, Alberta in 1985. The Cannons served as a AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners during their first 10 seasons in Calgary, during which time the likes of Edgar Martinez, Alex Rodriguez and Danny Tartabull suited up for the team. The Cannons would later be affiliates for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox and Florida Marlins, winning league titles in 1987, ’91 and ’98 before being relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico as the Albuquerque Isotopes following the 2002 season.
