JAPANESE INDIGO-DYED CORDUROY HAT HONORING THE TOKYO GIANTS

History: A group of Japanese all-star ballplayers formed a barnstorming squad in 1934 and toured the United States, at one point facing off against an American all-star team that included Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Jimmy Fox. Two years later when the Japanese Baseball League formed, the team formally changed its name to the Tokyo Giants (or Kyojin in Japanese) and began their long history of success. Today they are the oldest and most successful professional sports team in Japan.

This Tokyo Giants hat is cut and sewn in the USA from a textured, Japanese-made corduroy fabric that’s been dyed with traditional indigo — making it a true heirloom piece that will take on a unique character as it fades and wears in over time. Finished with a white felt logo (a Japanese character meaning “giant man”) and green satin underbrim.Â
