THE AUTHENTIC ON-FIELD BALLCAP OF THE 1954 BALTIMORE ORIOLES
History: Between 1953 and 1963, during what came to be known as the “Decade of Change” in baseball, six teams moved to new cities and four brand new ballclubs joined the majors.
After seeing their original team move to New York City and eventually change their name to the Yankees, Baltimore went 51 years without a MLB club. But in 1953 the St. Louis Browns changed ownership and relocated to Baltimore, and on April 15, 1954, with a brand new name and brand new colors, the Orioles paraded through the streets to Memorial Stadium for their first home game — where they beat the Chicago White Sox 3–1.
Ebbets teamed up with Mitchell & Ness to create the Decade of Change Collection, honoring the era with period-accurate ballcaps like this one — handmade in the U.S.A. from genuine wool broadcloth and featuring the flat embroidery style typical of the time.
