History: The Boston Red Sox debuted their iconic “hanging socks” logo in 1924. Perhaps they thought it would give the team a fresh start after Babe Ruth, who they sold to the New York Yankees in 1920, led his new squad to a World Series in 1923. Whatever the reason, the logo stuck. It has been a part of the BoSox look ever since — all the way through the 85 year Curse of the Bambino to their 2004 World Series win and on to today.
