History: One of the most recognizable mascots in collegiate athletics is the Notre Dame Leprechaun. He was designed by sports artist Theodore Drake in 1964 for the sum of just $50. The live Leprechaun first appeared on the sidelines in 1960 alongside the Notre Dame Cheerleaders and is now world famous.
