WOOL BALLCAP HONORING THE PUERTO RICAN NATIONAL TEAM
History: Just months before his tragic death, Roberto Clemente managed the Puerto Rican national baseball team in the 1972 Amateur World Series held in Nicaragua. He coached the team to 9 wins, placing 6th overall in the series. A few weeks later, a huge earthquake hit Nicaragua, killing thousands and devastating the city. Clemente was eager to help with the relief efforts, donating funds and committing to oversee the delivery of provisions himself, and it was on the flight to Nicaragua that his plane went down.
To honor this giant of baseball, we designed this ballcap with the logo from that 1972 Puerto Rican national team, the last Puerto Rican uniform he wore. The hat is made from wool broadcloth and finished with our signature green satin underbrim.
