History: The Billiken tobacco company sponsored a team in the city of Matanzas, and also produced a series of Cuban baseball cards for several years in the 1920s. These rare cards are highly sought after by collectors, as they depict not only Cuban-born players, but American Negro Leaguers who played on the island at the time.
