REPLICA “.45S” LETTERING WORN BY THE 1962 HOUSTON TEAM

History: Houston was the only city among the first four MLB expansion franchises that had never hosted MLB baseball. The city was without a park suitable for major league ball, and the Colt .45s hastily built a temporary ballpark adjacent to the location of their future home, the Astrodome. Colt Stadium was known for its heat and humidity, and although the Colts started with promise by sweeping the Cubs, the team finished in ninth place, above only their fellow expansionists, the New York Mets. After three seasons, the Houston club finally moved into baseball’s first dome and changed its name to the Astros.

This style is an authentic Houston Colt .45s satin windbreaker from 1962. Our line of MLB vintage windbreakers are inspired by models from the 1950s and '60s, and use our classic cotton-backed satin.
