Atlanta Black Crackers 1940 Cotton Twill Ballcap
$58 USD
COTTON TWILL BALLCAP HONORING THE 1940 ATLANTA BLACK CRACKERS
History: The Atlanta Black Crackers built their reputation through perseverance in the ever-changing world of Black baseball. In 1938, they won the Negro American League’s second-half championship, only for their title series against the Memphis Red Sox to end without a declared champion. Financial troubles sent the team to Indianapolis in 1939, where it played as the ABCs. In a photograph captioned “Atlanta Black Crackers, 1940,” players wear a mix of jerseys marked “Atlanta” and “ABC” — a striking glimpse of a scrappy franchise in transition, and a reminder that Black baseball history rarely fit neatly into the record books.
Made from sturdy cotton twill and finished with our signature green satin underbrim, this hat is inspired by the jerseys worn by the Black Crackers in that photograph.
