History: In 1943, the Texas Longhorns played their first season under head coach Blair Cherry, posting a 6–2 record and finishing tied for the Southwest Conference title. Wartime rosters meant players came and went with military service, but baseball continued at Clark Field in Austin, where the Longhorns maintained a program already known across the region for disciplined play and steady success.
