History: The summer of 1957 kept Mexico City on edge as the Diablos Rojos del México chased the Mexican League pennant. Fresh off their breakthrough title the year before, the Diablos spent much of the season trading blows with contenders like the Leones de Yucatán. The lineup thundered behind slugger Alonzo Perry, whose power kept the club in the hunt deep into the schedule. By season’s end the Diablos had piled up 66 wins and finished just two games shy of first place—proof their championship run was no one-year wonder.
