A TRIBUTE TO THE 1935 BROOKLYN EAGLES

History: The Eagles played their inaugural season at Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field in 1935, but moved to Newark just one year later. Co-owned and managed by Effa Manley, the first and only woman inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Eagles were a powerhouse of the Negro Leagues, winning the NLWS in 1946. The following year, their home-grown star Larry Doby became the second Black player to break the color barrier and the first in the American League.

This jersey, cut from a soft and sturdy cotton twill, pays homage to the Brooklyn Eagles with a double-layer felt applique of the ‘BROOKLYN’ logomark they wore while they called Ebbets Field home.
