Hiroshima Carp 1959 Authentic 8-Panel Wool Ballcap
AUTHENTIC 8-PANEL WOOL BALLCAP FOR THE 1959 HIROSHIMA CARP
History: Hiroshima established a professional baseball team as part of the city's reconstruction efforts after the atomic bomb devastation in 1945. The Carp ("Koi" in Japanese) were perennially underfunded, so much so that in 1951 the club almost disbanded. But Hiroshima fans rallied behind their team and collected donations to keep them afloat. In spite of their financial issues, the Carp persevered and made a full revival in recent years, winning three consecutive pennants in 2016–18.
This genuine wool ballcap is directly inspired by the ones the Carp took the field with in 1959, complete with an 8-panel construction and a felt applique of their layered ‘HC’ logo.
