History: The 1950s were immensely productive for the Penn State Nittany Lions baseball team. They made the NCAA Tournament 6 times, including a runner-up finish in the 1957 College World Series. That year, their star pitcher Cal Emery went 10-1 with 96 strikeouts in the regular season, and became the first and only Nittany Lion to be named the College World Series MVP.
