History: Originally founded in 1934, the minor league team in Syracuse, NY has had multiple names and affiliations, but for most of their existence the team was known as the Syracuse Chiefs. Although there have been a dozen different affiliations over the years, none has been longer lasting than the team’s time as the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. From 1978 to 2008 Syracuse served as a step on the path to the Majors for Blue Jays prospects and veterans on rehab assignment, with players like Carlos Delgado, Luis Sojo, Dave Stieb, and even Deion Sanders swinging through Central New York.
