Aloha 100th Infantry 1942 Authentic Wool Road Baseball Jersey
THE AUTHENTIC 1942 “ALOHA” LOGO USED BY THE ALOHA 100TH INFANTRY
History: Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, all Japanese Americans were treated with prejudice by their government and fellow citizens, and over 110,000 were sent to internment camps. The 100th infantry battalion, composed of nisei (Japanese-descended) soldiers from Hawaii, were shipped off in the night to Camp McCoy in Wisconsin and required to “prove their patriotism” through rigorous training and psychological testing. They brought with them a love of baseball, forming the Aloha Team (emphasizing their Hawaiian, rather than Japanese, identity) and competing against other military regiments and minor league clubs in the area. Once deployed — first to North Africa, then Europe — the 100th Infantry Battalion became the most decorated unit in U.S. military history, earning 4,000 Purple Hearts and 21 Medals of Honor.
This jersey pays homage to the logo used by the Aloha during their days in Wisconsin, and is crafted from genuine wool with felt lettering, just like back in the day.
