History: The Triplets took their name from âThe Triple Citiesâ of Binghamton, Endicott, and Johnson City, in upstate New York, representing the area since 1923. The â65 season marked the clubâs first Major League affiliation, as the Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and the Triplets took home the â65 NY-Penn League championship that year behind infielder Jerry Kenney, who finished the year with a .312 batting average and 22 stolen bases.
