History: Prohibition was a popular social movement in 1911, culminating in the passage of the Volstead Act in 1919, which banned the sale of alcoholic beverages nationally. York finished last in 1911, but there was some good news in that George Harms led the league in homers, with 21 (sadly his stance on prohibition has been lost to history). Future Hall of Fame and Brooklyn Dodger great Dazzy Vance pitched for York in 1912.
